David Galloway has 30+ years of experience in manufacturing, business process leadership, and the integration of human performance with Lean/Six Sigma techniques.

After graduating from Penn State, Dave enjoyed a long career in the paper industry. He held many leadership positions in all segments of the business, including engineering, research, operations, logistics, quality, and process improvement.

As a certified Master Black Belt and Lean Six Sigma Deployment Leader, Dave applied his knowledge in leadership, change management, process improvement, mistake-proofing, lean six sigma, innovation, and mentoring to solve problems and help others be more effective. Most recently, he led a large contingent of Black Belts who completed hundreds of improvement projects. Under Dave’s leadership, over $400 million of cost, productivity, and revenue enhancement were achieved during eight years of Lean Six Sigma deployment. In addition, Dave’s group was able to remove countless pain points and simplify many processes to reduce non-value-added work and the associated frustration.

Dave has a keen interest in workplace safety and the psychology of personal risk-taking. He has been an advocate of applying simple behavioral techniques and continuous improvement thinking to the challenge of risk reduction. Dave was the principal leader in driving a culture of safety excellence at a large North American paper manufacturer. He championed the concept of safety leadership and mentored hundreds of leaders in the organization, from supervisors to executives, on how to influence others toward a positive safety culture. As a result, the organization involved reduced the number of injuries and events to near industry-best levels.

Dave enjoys showing others how to leverage innovative concepts to address difficult-to-solve problems. He pioneered integration of human performance error elimination tools into the traditional DMAIC process, and developed the ground-breaking LEAN Human Performance approach to mistake-proofing.

He is a Practicing Perfection® Master Facilitator and Master Mentor, and blogs about continuous improvement concepts at http://continuousmile.com/.
